Shaped like an elongated ravioli, these much-loved local sweets are found in every bar and bakery from Castellammare to Marsala. Cassatelle are also one of the island of Favignana’s most quintessential sweets!
This ravioli made of flour, sugar, oil and lemon zest is stuffed with ricotta mixed with sugar, sometimes with chocolate chips, and a pinch of cinnamon to give it a unique flavour.
Everything is fried in boiling oil and eating them hot with their sweet contents tumbling out with every bite is a pleasure for the tastebuds and for the soul.
