Valli Trapanesi Olive Oil PDO
An extraordinary ingredient.
The landscape of the west of Sicily is characterised by the foliage of the olive trees that dot the countryside; an ancient, typically Mediterranean tree that spread to this part of the island under the Arabs and the Spanish, who planted numerous olive groves that are now of significant historical and monumental value.
This area of the island is home to Valli Trapanesi PDO, an extra virgin olive oil with a protected designation of origin since 1998, whose olives are the result of the olive-growing heritage of the western part of Sicily.
This oil, which is produced in most of the municipalities of the Trapani area traditional environmental conditions and olive-growing conditions, has been awarded the PDO and PGI designations.
The oil is made from the excellent Biancolilla, Cerasuolaand Nocellara delBelice olive cultivars, which have specific characteristics that give it a particularly intense flavour, ideal for use raw on vegetables and salads, fish, meat and rustic soups, boiled vegetables, vegetable soups, etc.
