Trekking in the Zingaro Nature Reserve
Castellammare del Golfo
The Oriented Nature Reserve of Zingaro is wonderfully suited for trekking activities along three paths at different altitudes and difficulty levels. You can choose to take the coastal path, the most linear and less challenging. The one-way distance is about seven kilometers, which can be covered in about two hours. From here, you can reach some splendid coves where you can engage in snorkeling and diving, such as Cala dell’Uzzo, Cala Marinella, Cala Beretta, Cala della Disa, Cala del Varo, and Cala Capreria. Alternatively, you can choose the mid-level path, certainly the most scenic. Of medium difficulty, it is about 8.5 km long and can be covered in four hours. Here, if you wish, you can request to stay in a refuge between October and May. The high path is the most challenging one, 17 km long, taking about 7 hours to complete, recommended for experienced trekkers. Here, among yellow broom, pine, and holm oak woods, you will encounter the peaks of Monte Passo del Lupo (868 m above sea level), Monte Speziale (914 m above sea level), and Monte Scardina (680 m above sea level).
