Creeks and beaches of Favignana
Favignana
There are numerous coves and beaches that embellish the coasts of the island with their shapes lapped by the waters of an exceptional sea. In order not to lose even one of them, inform yourself and choose the one that inspires you the most!
On the northern side of the island are the quiet cove of Faraglioni, characterized by the presence of rocks and pebbles, accessible by a dirt road, along with Cala del Pozzo fascinating wild and seasonal bay that changes with the seasons and the tides. On this same side there is also the Scalo Cavallo reef where the rocks alternate with concrete piers: reaching this cove is a fascinating experience to discover the geology of the island, among the houses with underground gardens obtained in the former tuff quarries. Another pearl is Cala Graziosa, set inside an old tuff quarry, whose peculiar conformation makes it unique, together with the pebbles lying on the seabed that give the water a transparent color. Among the beaches of this side easily reachable there is La Praia, located within the urban centre and an integral part of the harbour arc, between the Camparia and the Ex Plant Florio.
The southern side of the island is the one that offers a lot of choice of coves and beaches to be enjoyed in many different ways, but all unique, as Cala Azzurra, whose crystal clear waters and sandy coves make it a popular destination for families who have easy access and enjoy a refreshment point or even the charming cove of pebbles that is reflected on a small island, accessible by a dirt path, Cala del Previto. Suitable for everyone, suitable for families and adjacent to the road, an element that makes it easily accessible, is the beach of Calamoni, characterized by islets that close it, the white sands and shallow waters. Other beaches and coves of the southern side and easily accessible are the beach of Grotta Perciata, whose stone arches open on its cliff with access to the sea facilitated by a series of slides carved into the rock and Lo Scivolo, cove characterized by flat rocks and low and lapped by crystal clear waves, sandy bottom with a shoal wrapped in blue and the Beach of Marasolo, located within a bay with shallow waters and sandy bottom. This side also offers unique places, such as the peninsula of Punta Lunga with its small village and the small fishing port on its southern tip and numerous sandy coves and flat rocks polished by the sea, or as the wonderful cliff from which to dive into a deep blue sea, at Punta Fanfalo, along with the southwestern tip of Punta Marsala and its lighthouse that looks towards the city where Garibaldi landed, characterized by a rocky coastline with small landings related to the old quarries.
On the western side of the island there is Cala Rotonda which fascinates with its natural arch called “of Ulysses” and its pebbles that cover a rounded cove, with a very clear sea, ideal for snorkeling lovers. Punta Sottile, where the homonymous lighthouse is located, is interesting for its landscape, fascinating for its sunsets and the numerous coves and inlets where you can practice sports and discover the seabed.
