Church of Maria SS. dell'Annunziata
Castellammare del Golfo
In the area of Marina Beach, there is a small church, aptly nicknamed the Marina Church. This church, built starting from 1590, was also dedicated to Santa Maria del Carmelo, as it was connected in the 16th century to the convent of the Carmelite Fathers, unfortunately, no longer in existence today. The church is simple and elegant with a wooden door decorated with floral motifs. The door is enriched at the top with a lunette decorated with a paschal lamb. On the right side, there is a marble niche depicting the patroness, Maria SS. del Soccorso. Inside, the church has a single nave with an altar decorated with a nineteenth-century canvas depicting the Annunciation, surmounted by a barrel vault. The choir is distinguished by an ogival arch, and the niches inside the church are decorated with local marbles, including red marble from Monte Inici.
