Created to defend the tonnara of the same name, the Torre di Cofano (today used as a visitor centre) dates back to the beginning of the 16th century and is characterised by its four-pointed star-shaped plan. The oldest tuna trap, which is said to date back to 1404 at the latest, was among the most active tuna nets in the area and was inhabited until the middle of the twentieth century.
