Church of St. Joseph
Castellammare del Golfo
The church of St. Joseph dates back to the 19th century and was completed in 1889. The exterior of the church, made of tuff stone, has a linear and composed appearance, enriched by tapered columns and two bell towers. The church is elevated and clearly visible, as the entrance portal is reached via a staircase. The interior layout consists of a single nave with semi-circular arch ceilings and two entrances. Well-preserved are the columns with Corinthian capitals, plaster statues, and five altars, the main one dedicated to St. Joseph, to the right the altars of St. Nicholas and the Sacred Heart of Jesus. On the left are the chapels of Our Lady of Sorrows and Our Lady of Fatima. There is also a pulpit with the four Evangelists: St. John with the eagle, St. Mark with the lion, St. Luke with the bull, and St. Matthew with the angel.
