This original 13th-century church is one of the oldest in Salemi and was built next to Porta Aquila, a city gate that has now been lost.
On the facade, two niches accommodate the statues of Saints Peter and Paul, while the interior of the church houses important Renaissance sculptures, such as a Madonna del Soccorso by Antonello Gagini and a San Luca from the Gagini school as well as an 18th-century organ painted with flowers and lacquered in gold.
The convent with its elegant 15th-century cloister is attached to the church.
