Palazzo Crociferi, located in front of Villa Comunale Regina Margherita, is now the seat of the Municipality, the auditorium, and the council chamber. It is one of the oldest buildings in the town. It was built in 1659 at the behest of Princess Francesca Balsamo di Roccafiorita, who wanted to establish a convent for the Crociferi Fathers, an order founded by St. Camillo de Lellis. The convent was built along with the church of Maria SS. Degli Agonizzanti, the church of “lu cummentu,” connected to the convent by an underground corridor.
