This small agricultural centre has eighteenth-century origins, strongly affected by the earthquake of ’68. 

Near this centre there is a very important naturalistic area, a real natural pearl in the hinterland of western Sicily: the Natural Reserve of Santa Ninfa Cave, a site of high geological, naturalistic and speleological interest.
