Home Food & Wines Vine and Wine Catarratto
An ancient grape variety found throughout Sicily, but cultivated mainly in the western part of the island.
There are two forms of this vine: that of the Bianco Comune and the Bianco Lucido.
Catarratto is part of the ampelographic base for the production of Marsala DOC, but more generally in all designations.
It is blended with other grape varieties of the area in the white wines of the designations of origin concerned: together with Grillo andInzolia it creates quality wines, often with an excellent quality-price ratio, characterised by freshness, good acidity, fruitness and floral notes.
