Egadi
Favignana, Marettimo, Levanzo: the islands of treasures.
Islands in the island, beauty in beauty, the Egadi are an archipelago of natural wonders known more for its largest island, the charming Favignana, but they also include Marettimo and Levanzo, and a series of small islands. In these islands you can find peace, fill your soul with beauty and your eyes with wonder.
Favignana is a paradise of blue sea, and not only. In addition to the many beaches, some of fine sand, others more rocky, on the island you can also admire the splendour built by man, such as the castle of Santa Caterina, a must-see. This is the remains of a castle fortified in the fifteenth century, founded on the highest point of the island, from which you can enjoy a view of the surrounding landscape that is an emotion truly hard to forget.
The coasts have been partly redrawn by one of the most ancient activities of the island: the quarries for the extraction of tuff. Today, In the rocky parts, it is possible to see squared tanks where the transparent water forms “natural” pools.
In the island of Levanzo, in addition to the natural landscape, of course, the underwater archaeological path littered with wine amphorae and archaeological remains, some dating back to the Punic Wars is an incredible thing to see!
Marettimo, the farthest island from Sicily of the three, is a real paradise for hikers. On the island there is only one road from which a series of paths lead in a short time directly into the wild nature of the place. The numerous caves, which animate the perimeter of its coasts, add a further touch of charm to this wild island that is reflected in the crystal clear waters.
