A captivating exhibition showcasing the works of Costas Varotsos and Gianfranco Anastasio is taking place at the Trame Mediterranee Museum in Baglio Di Stefano, Gibellina.
The Orestiadi Foundation inaugurated the exhibition on January 15, marking the anniversary of the devastating Belìce earthquake of 1968.
“Spirale” is an iron and glass artwork by Costas Varotsos that represents the intertwining of energy and nature. The repeated spiral form is enhanced by the refracting glass, aiming to stimulate reflection on the human condition and its ancestral relationship with the Universe.
“On the Flipside” by Gianfranco Anastasio is a sensitive allusion to the fragility and instability of the Belìce territory. It redefines spatiality with the image of an inverted ground, a large reversed staircase that replaces the sky. It serves as the material representation of an apocalypse, showcasing the metamorphosis of places that still resonates within the landscape and community of Gibellina.
The exhibition will be open until September 30, 2023.
