Castellamare Del Golfo

Castellammare del Golfo has a beautiful sandy beach that stretches for miles, overlooking the gulf of the same name – a truly breathtaking sight.
The town of Castellammare has developed like an embrace around the ancient castle of Arab origin that overlooks the port, a mooring place for both boaters and fishermen returning from their fishing trips.

The natural landscape that surrounds it is equally fascinating and also offers mountain enthusiasts the possibility of interesting outings, thanks to the 1064-metre-high Monte Inici and its trails and caves to explore.

When you talk about Castellammare, you can’t fail to mention Scopello, a picturesque village that grew up around an 18th-century “baglio” (fortified farm), whose coastline is made up of little coves with white pebble beaches: a place that has become the favourite spot of many tourists. In Scopello, there’s also an ancient “tonnara” (tuna fishery) that is well worth a visit, not least for the two spectacular sea stacks that tower above the crystal-clear water. And there’s another unique place that you really can’t miss: the Zingaro nature reserve, with its turquoise sea, red earth trails, rare plants and animals and natural wonder. So much wonder.

DA NON PERDERE:

  • The Zingaro Reserve
  • Scopello and the Faraglioni (Sea stacks)
