The dense foliage of centuries-old olive trees characterises the landscape of this town, between the countryside and the sea, which is full of fascinating historical and cultural treasures.

Its ancient hamlets of Torretta Granitola – formerly the site of a tuna fishery – and Tre Fontane are characterised by their long dune beaches and are an ideal seaside destination for peaceful family holidays.

The area also boasts exceptional archaeological evidence: an ancient quarrying area that was abruptly abandoned in antiquity and is now part of the Archaeological Park of Selinunte and Cave di Cusa, 17 km north-west of the site.

These quarries were used to extract the limestone for the construction of the temples of the ancient Greek city.
Moreover, the Cave di Cusa quarries are unique in that they offer visitors the impression of a place where time has stood still, where the sudden abandonment of the production phases, probably due to the great battle against Carthage that led to the destruction of Selinunte in 409 BC, is clearly evident.
