Salemi Vineyards

The hilly terrain of the area, together with the properties of the soil and the climatic conditions, make it ideal for the cultivation of vineyards, whose rows lie in long expanses as far as the eye can see, like those that frame the hills of Musita.
Here, the vineyards are an integral part of the local landscape, shaping the contours of the hills and slopes and giving them their charm.
This production area was awarded recognition as an IGT on 10 October 1995 by Ministerial Decree.
Wines with a typical “Salemi” geographical indication (white, red and rosé) must be obtained from grapes from vineyards composed of one or more of the following vines: Catarratto, Ansonica, Trebbiano, Grecanico, Damaschino.
In Salemi, in fact, viticulture is a crucial sector of the local economy and numerouswineries continue the ancient tradition that has made Salemi important for its production of excellent wines. There are plenty of opportunities for tastings and to discover the area’s fine wineries.
