72ND NATIONAL BERSAGLIERI GATHERING
The National Gathering of the Bersaglieri takes place over several days, during which there will be concerts and fanfare carousels, ceremonies, and other similar events. The climax of the event will be on 11 May, the day on which the fanfares and parade through the streets of the host city will take place.
And it is precisely the route along which the fanfares will parade that already gives an idea of how much beauty envelops Marsala, studded as it is with sites that offer opportunities for visits, tastings, photo shoots, panoramas and unique sunsets. On Sunday 11 May, the first notes will be sung in the Piazza della Fontana del Vino, the work by Salvatore Fiume that exalts the culture of wine amidst wineries, vineyards and noble labels, starting with Marsala, Italy's first DOC. Then on to the renovated Piazza Mameli with its Porta Garibaldi, the historic entrance to the ancient heart of the city, where the San Pietro Cultural Complex with its square tiled specola stands out.
Then we head straight in the direction of Monumento ai Mille, at the centre of an area used as a tourist hub and of a waterfront that finally enhances the city's millenary seafaring vocation. Having walked along the Boeo promenade overlooking the Egadi Islands and leading to the Punic Ship Museum, the last stretch is Viale Isonzo, which runs alongside the Lilybaeum Archaeological Park. Just a few more steps and we are on the stage set for the festive and final salute to the fanfares: Piazza Della Vittoria. This was the first landing place where the Phoenicians, fleeing from the island of Mozia in 397 B.C., founded Lilybaeum.
