Tower of 'Impisu
Going towards the Zingaro we come across this tower from the unusual name in Sicilian: ‘Mpisu or ‘Impisu, that is hung.
This tower is also part of the defensive system of the sixteenth century coastal defence towers placed in communication between them, designed by the Florentine architect Camillo Camilliani in 1583 at the request of the Viceroy of the Kingdom of Sicily.
In particular, the elevated position of this tower had to represent a sort of “bridgehead” of the system of communications in this area, in addition to that linked to the nearest towers also those more distant, such as the towers of Monte San Giuliano and Bonagia.
