Castle of Santa Caterina

Castle of Santa Caterina Castle of Santa Caterina
Built over an ancient Saracen fortress during the XV century, enlarged in the second half of the XVI century by the viceroy Marquis of Pescare, during the Second World War this building – also called fort or fortress – was used as a military observatory.
Today its fascinating ruins are an essential destination for visitors to the island.

With its altitude of 314 m in fact, allows you to enjoy a unique view and you can understand well its intended use aimed at controlling all the ports of the island, especially in times when the sea was ploughed by pirate boats.

From here the panorama that sweeps over the Egadi is really sensational and its ruins are a destination not to be missed.
