Saturno Fountain

Saturno Fountain Saturno Fountain
This fountain has fourteenth-century origins (1342) and was built by the will of the Chiaramonte family in order to distribute water in the urban centre of Trapani, thanks to the aqueduct that they had built.

Its baroque elements (XVII century) were embellished by the presence of a statue of the god Saturn, a divinity that in Antiquity presided over the protection of Trapani. The water gushes out of three big fishes and pours into a big shell and from this into three smaller shells that rest in turn on three monstrous heads that flow into a bigger basin.
