Church of Santa Maria del Soccorso
The simple façade remains with its original aspect only in the portal surmounted by a statue of the Madonna del Soccorso by Cristoforo Milanti (XVIII century). It is a magnificent surprise when you cross the threshold of this place of worship: a casket of art and beauty with a single apsidal nave, embellished by chapels rich in valuable elements.
A triumph of sumptuous and harmoniously orchestrated details: altars covered with polychrome marbles, valuable statues and a valuable picture gallery with the paintings of San Domenico by Pietro Novelli, Santa Caterina by Andrea Carreca and the Madonna del Rosario by Guglielmo Borremans. Together with the furnishings and the sacred vestments, they make the discovery of this place of worship exceptional, where even our steps rest on a precious carpet, the polychrome marble inlay floor by the architect Luciano Gambina.
The most important chapel is the one of the Madonna del Soccorso, designed by the architect Giovanni Amico and whose altar dates back to 1740.
